On behalf of the Castillo family, I wanted to let everybody know that our father, Israel Castillo, Jr. (Kookie), passed away today on 5/31/07. Pops passed in peace, and is now seated with our Almighty Father and with his beloved wife, Maria Castillo (PeeWee). He loved his family and friends - His son Joel and wife Gloria Castillo - Grandchildren - Joel, Jr., Jessica, Julian, Jenna, and Danielle. His son Michael and grandkids - Michael, Jr. and Miranda. His Mother Luisa Castillo, His sisters - Mary, Ofelia, Gloria, and brothers - Ray and Tony. His father Israel Sr. and wife Maria Castillo who passed away before him. His Sister in law Rosie, Diana, Mary, and brother in law - Homer, and Armando Carrera. His dearest Niece and Nephew Ricardo Luis and Anna Carrera. His nephews and nieces - Rodney, Rickey, Susanna, Baldermar, Gracie, Marty, Gracie, Theresa, Eddie and all their children. They loved Pops - Grandpa Castillo.

Kookie - Pops, was well known and well loved throughout the Midwest and in the valley of San Benito Texas. He has so, so many friends and great companions. Israel retired from the Illinois Migrant Council and also worked for Caterpillar, Vance Wire, and a strong member of the Aurora Latin American Club. Israel was the co-founder of the Northern Illinois Tejano Cultural Society as a Vice-President. His passion for the Tejano Culture and entertainment was very strong and assisted in many areas to make the organization grow. To this day he continues his membership.

The family will be receiving guests, Sunday, June 3, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 4 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 620 5th Avenue at 9:30 am, Aurora. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Illinois Tejano Cultural Society 1741 Ivy Lane, Montgomery, IL 60538.
